Gippsland’s Hogget Kitchen has a simple philosophy about food. Owner and chef Trevor Perkins believes that ingredients should be allowed to ‘speak’ for themselves. For that philosophy to work, Hogget uses the freshest local ingredients at the peak of their season.

SM was approached by Trevor to develop the brand identity for his new venture. SM worked with traditional yet modernist elements that were inspired by Trevor’s favourite vintage cookbooks.

A traditional typeface with modernist elements was chosen for the logotype, which is then combined with two hogget symbols. An organic colour palette of natural greens alongside secondary materials of kraft papers, brass and wood ties the brand altogether.
